Through Seasons

by Lisa Hauger

Like the changing airs of autumn, when leaves convert colors,
let faith carry beauty to appreciate others’ humanity.
As swift night approaches,
let grace make the common holy, transformed by our North Star.
When stormy news blows windy wild,
may prayers and actions embrace warm welcome.
Warmed
in spite of frozen layers and layers of lies for truth’s heat has no leaven.
I am alive at this time
to choose what favors God’s heart for our world,
the world He so loves,
that He died to redeem.
Like the spring thaw, when fresh life shoots out of softening earth,
let mercy triumph over judgment.
As light shines early, let kindness melt offenses,
vanishing hatred by goodness of the saving Son.
Saving us,
His dear children who care about others’ dear children,
in a family where we all belong.
