Kids Who Welcome

Immigration has become a contentious political topic, but it’s fundamentally a human issue. Who are the people who leave their homes to start over in a new place? What do they hope for?

There are big opportunities and challenges ahead, and lasting change has to involve future generations. Join us as we dig into the question at hand: How can we raise kids who welcome?

Our team explores these questions in this free downloadable resource. Fill in your name and email address on this form to complete the download, and on the next page you will be able to access the guide.

In this guide, you’ll learn from Melissa, Laura, and Rachel - three members of the We Choose Welcome team. We’re moms (and Melissa is the world’s coolest grandma!) who care about immigration, justice, and raising a generation of compassionate welcomers. Together we’ll answer the question: How can we raise kids who welcome?

A lot of our work at We Choose Welcome happens online, and we’re grateful for the ways technology connects us. But we also know that the online world can quickly go wrong. Without a helpful framework, we can find ourselves absorbing the toxic biases, harmful narratives, and falsehoods of our newsfeeds. In our work as immigration advocates, we see this a lot. Media and politicians frequently spout dramatic numbers and use “invasion” language to describe immigrants. Just mentioning immigration triggers fear and anger. Engaging in contentious topics like this is hard even for thoughtful adults. How can we help the kids in our lives navigate a world that teaches them to fear others and react with hate when they disagree?

In the guide, you’ll find tips on how you can invite kids to search for the truth with you!
